This particular recipe is closely related to German tradition, where it is called Gurkensalat. This is a popular side dish that came to the USA. It is light, refreshing and easy to make. You can find two different versions of the cucumber salad, one of which has a light vinegar sauce, and the other is creamy. In the cream, the version will be a sauce of sour cream, dill, garlic, sugar and a small amount of vinegar. Both vinegar and cream versions can also be found in southern cooking. Although the recipe seems to have originated in Germany, it came to the southern part of the United States through German immigrants. Of course, there are small variations, but this version is my favorite. Also, I will show how Japanese and Asian people make such salad.
