By

Let’s see my favorite easy macaroni salad recipe! Made with classic ingredient staples including celery, red pepper, and onion and dressed up in a simple creamy mayo-based dressing. Macaroni salad is very simple to cook, and you can use all the ingredients you have in the refrigerator.

What can I add to my macaroni salad?

  • Peas: Just throw them in frozen peas, they will defrost without problems.
  • Ham: Ham sliced ham is also very popular, especially in the Hawaiian version, which also has pineapple, it looks like pizza
  • Red onions: they are slightly sweeter than yellow
  • Tuna: Tuna macaroni salad is very popular and is an ideal choice for a simple picnic, also a good percent of protein
  • Eggs: chopped eggs are light and very popular mixture that I sometimes use. Use 3-4 large eggs that have been hard-boiled.
  • Cheese: Cheddar cheese slices added to your salad are a light addition of protein.
  • Noodles: You can take any pasta as want
  • Meat: my favorite BBQ pulled chicken, but can add chicken if you want

How long can you keep macaroni salad?

Macaroni salad will keep for up to five days in the refrigerator in an airtight container. I prefer to serve this salad the next day. You can serve it to go, but try not to leave it out at room temperature for very long as the salad dressing base will not keep well in the heat.
